I think this is going to be one of those off-topic meta-posts. Blogging about blogging.
I really need to get organized with my blogging. So far, I have been posting here and there when a topic comes into my head, but I really do need to work out some kind of routine. Some sort of schedule for when I typically post stuff. This will be especially important when I am sick because I will really need to force myself to stay in contact with the world.
I`m taking my inspiration from this post from Marya Writes. I stumbled across her blog on the WordPress Freshly Pressed section (a phenomenal post on blogging tips) and immediately subscribed. I am not sorry. If you´ve any interest in writing, I recommend you do the same. She´s putting out great stuff.
She has really inspired me with her 2011 resolutions. I love writing. Heck, it´s what I studied in school. I´ve just gotten out of the habit. I want to think for a while about how I want to handle the blog in 2011. Normally I would blog about this, but right now my connectivity is pretty spotty. We are still in Ecuador, so my ability to compose, type, and post is limited. I´m working on a multi-part post on travelling with little ones, but it´s on my phone. Not only do I have to hammer out each individual word, but I don´t have an international calling plan, so no connectivity. There´s just no way to post it. Also, the phone is just killing my fingers.
At this point, I think I will just break out the old pen and paper. It´s just easier that way.
Here are a few of the questions I plan to kick around:
- How often and on what schedule will I post?
- What are some potential topics? I mean, obviously the HG, but what aspect. No one wants to read, “Today I puked 12 times. Yesterday 8. Blah, blah, blah.”
- How can I not only make this an interesting read, but bring good quality information to folks who might need it?
- Ultimately what do I want to get out of this?
It´s a bit to mull over. I think I will go sharpen a pencil and ask if my Mother-in-Law has an old notebook she would like to donate to the cause.
Please excuse any bizarre punctuation. I´m on a Spanish keyboard which means it´s easy to type this: ñ, but hard to type this: @.
